I Wish My Writing Would Change Lives

I wish my writing would change lives

That people would walk away and think

“that belongs in a book”

“I’ve never read something like that before”

That someone would read my writing

and think it’s the best version it could be

that I’m extraordinary and original

but I’m not

there are better writers in the world

writers who have had these same exact thoughts

and put them in a more elegant, beautiful, original poem

I thank God that my worth isn’t in my writing

My worth is in Christ alone

and my worth in him is infinite

worth enough for him to die

worth enough for him to rise again

worth enough to continuously intercede on my behalf

So, I wish my writing would change lives

not by pointing to me, but

by pointing to Christ
